SEPTEMBER 12 1917. Mopped. cleaned girls' room, baked oatmeal cookies, etc. Went with Hans in school parade thru town to see 9 soldiers go. While busy canning peaches, of which I put up 6 1/2 qts., Mrs. John Hanson called. 1918. A beautiful autumn day. I did some cleaning, baked 2 squash pies, canned 5 pts. green tomato catsup (unstrained), and helped Hans thresh out some beans. I have a nasty cold I caught from him. We harvested the long row of peanuts in evening. 1919. Hilda was baptized at church in A.M. by Rev. C.E. Wilcox. Communion Sunday. Then we all went to dinner to C.J. Nelson's, staying for supper, too. Fosters' were there, too. Letter from Edith, teaching at Oakville. Spent evening at Denison's (Forest Ave) 1920. Rosie Ehlers helped me from 8 o'clock till after dinner. I dressed 2 big fries, baked 3 pumpkin pies (from new pumpkin). Dinner at 11. We had to hurry. Lizzie Ehlers & two brothers here in P.M.
