SEPTEMBER 24 1917. Baked a big white cake, finished picking Swedish brown beans - two heaping dishpansful. Took a nap - went shopping. "Und so geht es". Crocheted on Hazel's baby's bonnet after supper. Very warm and windy. 1918. Baked an ovenful of white bread (wheat & a little corn) and two big pumpkin pies. Made citron preserves (canned 1 pt.) Helped Hans put in new bow in ford. Prof. Bjornson here for 6 o' clock dinner. Letter from Herman - he will be home Oct. 3 or 4. 1919. Baked an ovenful of white wheat bread and two big pumpkin pies, made three bottles tomato catsup, did baby's washing - two washersful as usual, and in P.M. took bath and a needed nap. Sewed on Amanda's blue and plaid gingham dress. 1920. Very tired. Ironed, mended a little, baked lemon pie, tried to rest. August & Anna here few minutes in P.M., before leaving for Dakota tonight. Nice not to have extra help around except work does not get done!
