SEPTEMBER 25 1917. Baked an ovenful of white bread. Rainy forenoon. Finished up two pajamas at Red Cross. Mrs. Coggswell went with me. 1918. Ironed two hours, mended. Wrote to mamma and cards to Helena and Anna W. Finished my buff tunic. Went to evening train with Hans, but he decided to work till morning to go to Mitchell for fall conference of County Agents. Helped him clean Ford. 1919. Made 5 bottles and a pint of tomato catsup (about 2 qt in all), baked spice cake, practically finished Amanda's gingham dress. Letter from Helen, starting in at Northwestern Univ. August here in evening few minutes. Hans had evening meetings this wk. 1920 A busy 17 hour day. Milked 4 cows twice, finished my week's ironing, cleaned downstairs, baked pumpkin pies, canned 3 qt. tomato, 2 of applesauce and 1 pt. peach butter, did a lux washing. Otto Dürkop here by the day during silo filling, but he's slow. 19
