Saving...
October 8 1917. I canned another quart of citron conserve, cooked four pie pumpkins (which we neglected to bring in and which got frozen), made a glass of pretty red apple jelly from peelings, and picked up several bushels of potatoes as Hans dug them. Hard freeze. Ground frozen till P.M. 1918. After some solid rest at Union Hotel, Le Mars, we left at 8:45. Breakfasted in Ford as we rode. Roads not bad. Home at 11;30. Plenty of dust about- scrubbed front porch, fed boys, fixed up accounts. Letters from Mabel Crossley and Hazel Grimes. Sent cards to Anna and her mother. August went to Theo. Jasperson's to pick corn. 1919. Washed baby clothes and Hans' sweater, then it rained P.M. Baked bread, with Fleischmann's yeast, getting it done by noon. Took nap. Made Hilda's dress from my old white middy. Crocheted her a thumbless mitten. Letter from Helena. 1920. Picked about two bucketfuls of grapes and bottled 8 qts or more of grape juice. Made rest of third pair of panties. Had first letter from Constance since she left. 19
