Saving...
October 22 1917. Snowed all forenoon. I did a big white washing. Hemmed another half napkin. Finished our inventory, with more than $1300 worth of property. Keeping accounts will be more systematic now, and easier. 1918. Ironed in 2 1/4 hrs. and finished the week's mending. Cut out four little white tennis kimonos or nightgowns. Helped Hans select new suit at Prentiss', dark gray with blue stripe. We finished the potatoes, making 11 bushels. Sent card to Helena. 1919. Washed for baby, cleaned house up a little, sewed on waist, put blue silk lining in Hilda's knit hood. Mark Keith's mother came to see him, and had supper with us and will stay all night. Myrtle Nelson here after school. Got circle letter. 1920. Hilda and I alone most of the day while Hans hauled lumber from Maquoketa for cow shed. Rain in night and day, too. Hilda gets tired indoors. I made 30 bars soap, patched a lot, and pieced a 17" crazy block for our Guild quilt. 1921. Baked graham bread and oatmeal cookies; did some necessary mending. We plowed and picked up half our potatoes in P.M. Then I got cows from back pasture. Got Hillside circle letter.
