November 7 1917. Canned 7 qts. beef and 2 of soup, boiling 4 hrs., also 8 qts mincemeat. Mended socks Mrs. Cogswell and I called on Mrs. Oberg, Mrs. Hansell (not at home), Mrs. Hangen, and Mrs. Dreyer. We got new calling cards. Our Red Cross comm. of four met at Ole Lee's in evening. 1918. Hans lay on cot made of two Morris chairs till 5 when we took "Lizzie" to Miss Blair's garage. Rained nearly all day. I baked small batch of bread, canned 2 1/2 qts. grape-citron sauce, worked on kimono, doily, and h'dkf. Hans decided not to have "flu", but stayed home all day. 1919. Hans gone all day, at a hog sale at Platte. I cleaned my bedroom, sewed on Hilda's coat, and started fixing up Amanda's black one with a piece of black fur-cloth around bottom. Wrote to Florence. Started embroidering collar of white coat. 1920. A rainy Sunday, so visited with Frank mostly. He and I skinned and dressed another rabbit Harry killed. We played pitch and Norwegian whist some. 19
