November 15 1917. Cleared off in the night. A grand day. Washed downstairs windows & light fixtures. Baked little brown cakes. Hemstitched an hour. Went to town. Mrs. Stenvick, Mrs. Wright, and Mrs. Reff called. Home in evening all alone. Knitted and crocheted. 1918. Washed kitchen windows, baked pumpkin pies. Embroidered little design on dress. Walked to town in P.M. Margaret went home for over Saturday. 1919. Baked chocolate cake, cleaned my bedroom, helped Amanda a little with a big washing, cut out and made silk collar for her red dress. Hans came home at 1:30 from his folks. His mother sent two dressed chickens, butter, several of Velma's clothes for Hilda. We walked down town in eve. 1920. Snow disappeared. Hans helped pick his father's last ten rows of corn. I baked oatmeal cookies, cut out and seamed up Hoover apron of blue flannelette. 19
