Saving...
December 8 1917. -16° at noon. We wasted a lot of time trying to thaw out a frozen cistern pipe, then removed it—frozen solid. Finished ironing, mopped after Hans finished his hog crate, baked pies, crocheted. Heard Metropolitan Trio sing and play chimes. 3d no of course [°8?] 1918. A fine mild day. August came in in A.M. After dinner we three took 30-mile Ford ride to Cal. Denison's and in Garfield Twp. Started to rain in evening. Denison's plan to move to Colorado soon, when J.C. returns from O.T.C. in the South. 1919. Too cold and windy to drive in from Riley's to Ames as planned. Florence and I and our babies continue our visiting. Embroidered most of an "H" on handkerchief. Learned to crochet "X" lace. 1920. Fine mild day. I cleaned my cabinet, swept Harry's room. Finished Hilda's plaid dress and this week's mending. Mr. Whitney here for dinner. Hans came in from plowing all in, and went to bed with fever. Adela stayed over night, and Glen came to help milk. 19
