DECEMBER 15 1917. Above zero a little while - first in ten days. As we were up till about 1:00 A.M. We got up late - at 8 - but got our half of Sambo cut up and 5 1/2 # of lard fried out. Froze winter's supply. Made nut bread, and helped make wild strawberry lacto. Played cards at Cogswell's + mostly in hole (Mrs and I 1250 in! 1918. Sunny till we started out with camera in P.M. I slept with girls last night. We took August out to Hanson's. Got disgusted with gumbo roads. Wrote to Helena, and to Murl Elijah. Letter from mamma. 1919. -4°. Hilda kept me awake most of night - papa says she's teething. We put narrow bed in front room for me; taking Hilda's cab upstairs was too much bother, and it's too cold for her. Mamma and I did a big washing. Began second crocheted slipper. 1920. Dressed chicken, did Lux washing, crocheted edge on pink handkerchief. Very windy. 19
