JANUARY 11 Signe helped me wash & bake bread. 12 at Garden Club at W.B. Miller's in eve. Plans for Guest Nite. Program: Birds & House Plants. Hilda missed school. Hans left for week at Decorah. in spite of icy paving. Ironing, mending, sewing, etc. Year of "going" began: Walked to Lilian Maxwell for WFMS; ate salad & cake, slept fine! Baked bread and rolls, beans, made yeast & lard, cooked last beets. Sewed on quilt -- a four-patch. Snowstorm from Canada began in P.M. -- 4 in. by bedtime, then stopped. Wrote Hans; letter from him & Amanda. Baked bread. Washed & pressed trouser goods. Hilda, Kathryn & I at Trousdale "Roll Call" & pot luck supper. Sold 4 calendars.
