JANUARY 26 1936. Nearly froze my nose walking to church. 53 at S.S. At S.S. board mtg. the play was turned down -- thanks to Mr. Warton. -25°. 1937. Didn't sleep well. Did ironing then slept an hr. in A.M. Stiff & no 'count -- Hans left for Elkader. Baked bread. 1938. 1° but sunny. Hilda took Frank to school before they went. Baked fruit cakes, did some pantry cleaning. Started sewing Kathryn's plaid dress. 1939. Took girls in to Madison, came home & took K & F in to Middleton. Made cake for evening card party at Ph. Branch which Hilda & I attended & where I second prize for men -- a pr. sox! Had dessert. Home Accts. comm mtg. at Mrs. Cole's. 5 there. Letter from Amanda. 19
