FEBRUARY 19 1936. -20° but up to 10° + fine + sunny. Baked cookies. Went to W.H.M.S at W. B. Miller's. Tea. Good mtg. Hans to Maquoketa. 1937. Baked oatmeal cookies, made apricot-apple butter; got + unpacked box of rose glass dishes. Read "Deep Dark River" by Robert Ryley. Letter from Helen [last name] 1938, Hilda, K, Hans and I in Madison from 9-12 - "Dollar Day". Got Hans new suit + overcoat, $1 hats + shoes, etc. Put new buttons on his old overcoat + cuffs on his new pants 1939. Very foggy. Signe + Frank to Federated Church in Middleton. We brought out Gale and Helen Johnson for dinner + supper; Played Chinese checkers + hearts 19
