MARCH 11 Hans left at 11 for spring Conference at Des Moines. I wanted to go with him but have to stay + work with meat! Canned 4 qt., made lard + sausage - Dressed a fat hen that got hurt. Colder in eve. Sent pim. cheese, pickles, milk, etc to Dora. Worked on fan quilt, begun a year ago. Girls at Queen Esther mtg. in eve at Doris Silker's. Dorothy Rupp took scarlet fever in school yesterday. Pauline and I cleaned up the house and baked peanut crunch cookies. 12 neighbor women here all P.M. She showed her "Fashion Frocks" and I served coffee and cookies. Cold suddenly worse. I did nothing - K made bread I started. Read in Byrd's "Little America"
