April 3 1936 25°. Baked bread & cake. Not good for much. 1937. Iron capsules seem to help. I did most of washing, baked cake & rolls while girls did cleaning. Birthday party for Hilda in eve—Ella, Thelma, Anna Louise, Eileen, Dorothy P., Mildred here. Served ice cream & cake. 1938. Hans phoned from Valley City, N. Dakota. Spits of snow began during church. Free to read a bit again. Slept most of P.M. then A. F. [Zevnik?] & Francis came. 1939. Washed & hung outside. Pressed 3 trousers, ironed a bit. Got new kitchen table cart. Hans at mtg. of 1500 farmers in stock pavilion. Gave Hilda pr black house slippers for her birthday. 19
