April 19 1936. Hans at farm again, till late. Had good S.S. class. Exec. Comm. Mtg of Jr. Bible class in eve at Lilian Maxwell's. 1937. Left at 9 with Hans. Grand day. We inspected Wood, Volga City, + Wadena. Picknicked near Elkader. Supper in Fayette church. Heard Bishop Oxmann in "Culture and the Preservation of Democracy'. Home at 11. 1938. When Hilda went to school, Kathryn and I took load of empty jars to our new home and planted 5 hills of rhubarb, a high bush, cranberry, and several iris. Wrote Hans, Elsie, + Aunt Addie. Windy. 1939. Thru washing at 10:30. Hung only a few on wire line outside. Sewed on my dress. Kids to monthly C.E. meeting at Middleton. Furnace firing still a regular job. 19
