May 7 1936. Felt punk, but did the washing. Up to 85°. Began reading "Magnificent Obsession" by Lloyd Douglas 1937. Mopped my bedroom floor, sunned contents of cedar chest, had crown put on tooth. We all went to Sr. play "I'll Explain Everything" in which Hilda was banker's wife. 1938. Rain interfered with plans, tho we all worked in garden part of P.M. Helped K put plants in flats & we finally saw Mr. Bruce. Put in peas, beans, sweet corn, & Signe flower seeds. 1939. First tulip in bloom, also phlox subulata. 3 kids to S.S. We & Hilda to church. Sermon on music "Language of the Soul." in P.M. Croquet in back yard. Rain last eve. 19
