May 10 Mother's Day. 19 Was supposed to be S.S. Supt. but lack of rest made me too fatigued. and I asked Mr. Hallett, & Tom Hinde to take my class. Bill Beyer here in P.M. to see Hans, also Frank Rupp. 1937. Another long telegram from Washington, D.C. Hans is to begin May 15 as associate Ag. Economist. Was at Dyersville from 10:30-12. Slept in hr. in P.M. Sewed bit. Called on Lyle & Sophia. 19 Grand wash day. Had 27 towels, 14 1/2 pr hose, 8 dresses, etc. Mended some, helped plant 2 more rows salsify, carrots, turnip, parsley, parsnips, & K put in onion sets. We all ironed, finishing at 9. Signe was named one of 16 highest students out of 350 in East high senior class—Card from Hans. 19 To Madison all day trav. library, sent Hans money, etc. 70th Anniversary luncheon at Univ. church for Madison—Platteville district. Miss Emma Olson of [illegible] talked. Got & began cross stitch linen table cloth. 19
