May 17 1936. Henry Waechter here in A.M. I drove to Maquoketa & back, Hans from his folks to farm to take seed com to Bill. Olga's at folks—she varnished furniture. At baccalaureate sermon in eve. 1937. Fine night's sleep. Finished the girls' blue rayon dresses for Jr. Sr. banquet except the picoted ruffles K. brought from Pauline after girls had gone! Hilda gave class poem—I was on program at Garden Club at Eva W's. 1/2" 1938. Rain all forenoon & part of night. Finished ironing & mending early; check in mail finally. Also letter from Jay W. & corn acreage readjustment. to 21.7.A. Wrote, Hans. card to Ferd, & letter to Edith W. K and I set out row of cabbage plants. Sent airmail letter & check to Hans in Mich. 1939. Ironed. Wrote Pauline & card to Grace. Mended, did a little cross stitch. Frank helped me take off some storm windows. Baked bread. 19
