May 26 19 Chat with Dick [Offringa?] Got starter from Inspector Joe Berry, which we took to Denver, Oelwein, Postville, & Decorah. 230 miles since leaving home. Helped Hans test gas pumps in P.M. Stayed at "Green Gables" cabin. Sen. Dickinson in eve on Court House lawn. 19 Baked angel food—in kerosene stove. Heavy rain in nite—but we slept thru it. Started work on last bridge in Dyersville. Went to Jr. Missionary program & tea at church. 19 Took girls to Madison, shopped on E. Williamson St., & a little on square, wrote Velma & Beatrice, to Univ. Ext. & Trav libraries, then to McFarland, [2?] Gunderson's, & to last day Waubesa school picnic at Larson Beach. Won prize of sewing box for slipper kicking. K. had school for 2 hrs. 19 Finished ironing, cut out blouse and sewed on Kathryn's dress. Wrote Dora, Helen. Kathryn sent her invitations. 19
