June 7 19 No supt. or sec. at S.S—my job to fill in. Re-read "Giants in the Earth." My coreopsis began blooming. Roses blooming, pink spirea, also many pansies. 19 Signe off to Iowa City at 6 with Supt. Breneman, Jean, & Jr. Edwards for "Brain Derby". I packed suitcase for Hans & one for Hilda with warm things for her trip next week to N. Minn. lakes. [illegible] in P.M. at Pauline's for Rally Day. Ed. Felder here. 19 Thru ironing at 9:30. Baked bread, helped K lay her linoleum & put curtains in her room & in linen closet. Mrs. Procknow and Virginia spent evening here. First ripe strawberry. 19 Kathryn picked 2 qt. strawberries, 1 for breakfast. Ardis Sprenes here overnight studying Chem with Sig. Red peonies, painted daisy, yellow roses blooming. Set out geraniums & coleus. Hard storm in eve cut off electricity. Made striped apron, did cross stitch. K got more pants & hdkfs! from Hazle & letter from Beatrice. 19
