June 12 1936. Packed up & left West Union. At Waukon briefly. Got my gray suede oxfords & stockings. 1937. Girls mopped. K baked bread. I finished & mailed Dora's dress. Made layer cake. Read in Gillis' "Blood Relations" 1938. Made nut bread, salad; K picked 3 qt strawberries. At 11 the Levi Maxwell family & Norman Miller came. After dinner we drove thru Univ. & Arboretum, on conducted tour thru Capitol, & had picnic supper at Vilas Park. [Tom?] Lindeman with Jean made 13. Grand time. 1939. 8 for breakfast & dinner. K picked strawberries. Hans took boys to Vilas Park after they cleaned garden & mowed lawn. Frank went with them to farm after dinner. I went to H. Ec. Club at Bird's, 2108 Jefferson, then to Crestwood, in Bordner and Peterson homes. Mrs. Otis brot me home. Mrs. Hozard along. Planted last glads. 19
