JULY 29 19 Kathryn run hand in wringer shelling peas. Baked cake for picnic - took 2 loads to W.H.M.S. picnic at Bessie Briggs'. Gave review of "The Native's Return" at mtg. Lots of visitors. Girls practised dem. at 2 19 I dressed 3 hens which Signe canned, then she started making flowered voile dress. I finished my rug. To see Helen Carlton, who is hurt, in eve. Got 3 Gov't checks ($400) in 2 days. 19 Picked 2 qt. raspberries, first cucumbers; made 1 qt. pickles, 1 pt. cherry olives, and 4 qt. sour kraut. Went to Middleton in P.M. Letters from Hans, long one from Pauline. Tried to attend big Univ. concert, but stock pavilion was full. Wrote Hans. 19 Wrote Pat and Bertha and card to Pauline. Frank and I went to Middleton. Baked bread and cherry pie. Found I was very tired at 1 so slept. Crocheted. K is weeding her everbearing strawberries. 19
