JULY 31 19 Baked rolls and sour cream cake. Got hemstitching done on my dress at Pauline's. 19 Hans came home at 1. Awake till 4. He brought berries from N. Wis. Signe helped me can 8 qt. blueberries and 6 pt red raspberries. Hans and Hilda to Buckhorn in P.M. Mrs. Frank [Raska?] and brother from Czechoslovakia here in eve to look at place. 19 7 in my S.S. class. Mr. Hauser rode out from church with us to his place. Read in "We Too Are the People" by Louise V. Armstrong. 19 At MacKenzies a few min. - last call in [M-ton?]. Feel no good. Sewed a little, finishing [illegible] on my pink slip. Finished "Grapes of Wrath" - horrible picture of contemporary events. Sent Hans letter and got one. 19
