AUGUST 23 1936. Felt bum but went to church and S.S. Lay around most of P.M. Hans and I called on J.N. and Lillian Maxwell in eve. 1937. Mrs. Keyes here for news. Signe did big washing. Hilda baked bread and helped me can 6 qt. applesauce and jam. K helped me pack [bushel?] of canned goods. E.L. had farewell party for 8 Skott and Maxwell girls on church lawn. 1938 Cards to little Velma and Lois [Jean?]. Hans and I made 6 calls around Tony Was in 1 home, a lovely stone house with stone fireplace. Drove to Adele's in Eau Claire, along Chippewa River and Jim Falls. At Johnson's, as Adele and Fred fishing. At Adele's overnight. 1939. Wakeful 1-1/2 hours. Canned last 3 qt. peaches. Washed, with Hilda hanging, we ironed, mended. Tired and aching shoulders. Wrote Hans, Otto Miller. 19
