AUGUST 30 19 After Ann and Delores attended mass in [Ames?], we left for State Fair. Registered at Pinecrest dormitory. [Meals?] at dining hall. Garden party at Mrs. Merrideth's in P.M., going in buses. 19 While Signe washed and Hilda painted mail [illegible], Hans, Frank and I went to Dubuque - in our [new?] second-hand V8 Ford. Engaged moving van. [illegible] ride in another V8 with Bert Sinkey. Packed. [illegible] in eve on Randall's, Keyes', Reeders', Lillian [illegible] and grandma Maxwell. HOT. 19 Elsie helped me do a huge washing. Mended some. Girls went swimming in [illegible]. Hans to S. Ohio for rest of week. Took pictures of whole family, [Elsie?] doing the snapping. 19 At State Fair all day. Heard Mrs. Sayre talk to 4H girls, then Pauline and I went thru Hort. bldg. Talked to Ray Murray in P.M. 4H style show. Drove to Ames. Dora's by 7. 19
