SEPTEMBER 1 Mrs. Sayre gave fine talk at Assembly. Went to see Hobby Show, watched dems. and exhibits. (Dubuque Co. got 4 placings) Victor brot picnic dinner for us. Flo and I on noon duty at dorm. [illegible] and Signe 2-1/2 hrs at booth. 4H party in eve. Big van at our place at 5:30! Hilda [phoned?] us. Breakfast at Warton's. So hot we [illegible] instead of moving chickens. Van out [illegible] 8:15. Signe, K and I at 9 in new car. 2d [illegible] with H. Sefzik came first. Hans and I each had flat tire. HOT. Rained for 1st in 9 weeks while we unloaded. Set up beds. Tired. Cards from Edna Maxwell, letters from Hans and Helen. Finished ironing, made wild grape jelly from grapes we picked at Sunset Point! Mending, etc. Hans home unexpectedly from Burlington Wis. Wrote Margaret Fritz - [illegible], recently widowed - Elsie and Hilda to Madison PM. To Dora's early, made noodles and helped with dinner for 22. Took Helen for practise with Mrs. Stouder. Leslie's, Mary and family, Beatrice and family, etc. Allan married to Josephine Brown at 4. Reception for [40 or 90?]. Visited with Mary Nelson, etc.
