SEPTEMBER 5 More than 3 inches rain at Ames from 2 to 8. [Illegible] at 109 M. via Blairsburg and Hi way 20. [Illegible] in car. Stopped to see Delores' sister Independence. Picked up Eldon Maxwell, who drove home. Hans took Delores home, then went to farm. We all went to First Methodist church in Madison and heard fine sermon by Dr. [illegible] "A Better Country". Had quite a time finding church. Hilda practised driving in P.M., all [of?] us going in new car. Found Mr. and Mrs. Bond at their [illegible] grass nursery. After breakfast at Rex's, Mary L. went with to Blairstown (Elsie to Ft. Dodge) Hans and I at his folks and farm. He drove Dodge home. At Pauline's for supper. Frank and I drove from Epworth home from 5:40 to 11! Sprinkled 2 bu. clothes, ironed some. Went to Middleton Woman's Club in P.M. Hans taking me. He, Frank and I to Madison in [eve?]; found no one home we wanted to see.
