SEPTEMBER 8 1936. School in forenoon to begin [year?]. Baked raisin bread and cake, ironed, canned 2 qt. apples, and helped Hilda dry clean. Wrote up Dubuque Co. at State Fair and took them to Mrs. Schwendiger and Mrs. Keyes. Slept on cot till 12:30 waiting for Hans to come. 1937. Kathryn brought bu. of tomatoes from Brandt's with Mrs. B helping her. I canned 13 qt. juice and 3 gl. apple, helped Hilda hang organ door. Tired. 1938. Ironed all forenoon. Several hard rains. Kids lucky to get rides with [Procknom's?] and Schwend's. Canned 4 qt. peaches, 5 pt. peach jam and 3 qt. whole tomatoes. Card from Emily H. 1939. Varnished upstairs half floor second coat. 66° - quite a change from yesterday. Card from Parry Dodds at Pago Pago July 3. Letter from Hilda. Napped an hr. Crocheted 2 hr on neglected purple rug. 19
