SEPTEMBER 21 Got (7) Did large washing alone - thru at [illegible]. Tired and went to bed early; slept [an?] hour, when Allan and Dora came and woke me at 10. Visited with them till late Warmer in P.M. Frank missed school with stomachache (or summer flu which [I?] have, too). I baked bread and cookies, called on Mrs. Finkelson. Miss Crombie called in eve. Made about 4 qt. sandwich spread, [mopped?], did big ironing, finished Hilda's green skirt (hem and belt). She and I went to reception for Rev. and Mrs. Barber. She was in receiving line. Grand sunny day. Frank went to his first Boy Scout meeting. Letters from Hans, Elsie. "First light frost in Madison area" - I didn't see it. Chilly, then grand sunshine. 72°. Changed collar, etc. of Hilda's brown rayon jacket for Velma. Canned 4 qt. eggplant. Typed on yearbooks, wrote Hans and Amanda. To Madison.
