OCTOBER 10 1936. Cloudy. Baked bread and cake. We cleaned rug and mattresses with Pauline's vacuum cleaner. Picked lima beans. Kathryn went to farm with her dad to gather walnuts. 1937. Shower in morning, cleared at noon. Beautiful "mums" and bittersweet at church. Grand picnic dinner at Sunset Point - I.S.C. Crowd. Renewed acquaintance with Dr. and Mrs. Hibbard, Mr and Mrs Truax. Baseball. Drove in lovely countryside - scarlet sumac, etc. Grace and "Kirk" here in eve. 1938. Up to 84°! Washed 3 blankets, 3 rugs, etc. Got all the darning done. Canned 1 pt. watermelon pickles. Letter from Grace Kirk, Arlington VA. 1939. Birthday card from Comm. S.S. (Arlene Morhoff). Washed tho very windy. Hans left for Austin, Minn. Finished writing my book review of "What Do You Want for 1.98?" 19
