OCTOBER 24 1936. Baked pies for once, made cranberry relish, mopped, made 2 dish towels; took wool skirt, etc. to Allen's. Hans went to farm to see about selling a Tb cow. 1937. We went to S.S. and church at East Side M.E. church, Rev. Burchall very pleased to see us. Met Miss Obrecht from 2 miles east of us. Got Classmate, Target and Girls' Companion. Old friends! To E.L. and church at Trousdale M.E. in eve. M.E. nurses sang. Rev. Burchall showed movie. 1938. Fine day. Wore no coat hanging washing. Baked bread. Jay left about 9. Hans connected upstairs radiators. 1939 Mary Alice and I staying at Brown's, 1327 Irving. We got passes from Sen. "Bob" LaFollette's sec. In Library of Congress, Tom of Arlington, Lee's home, Mt. Vernon and monastery. 5 of us from N.D., Ala. Wis. and Ia and negro chauffeur. U.S.D.A. cafeteria. 19
