OCTOBER 25 District Supt. H.C. Travis preached fine sermon. 7 in my S.S. class. Hans home at 3, then he, Frank and I drove to State hospital at Independence for big Holstein calf. High wind - we nearly froze in [Crimmins'?] open truck. Canned 2 pt. each of spiced pears and original pear conserve. Cut out and made 2 pajama pants for Hilda and Kathryn. Read in autobiography of Anna Shaw "A Pioneer". Ironed, baked oatmeal cookies, mended for Hans, did his packing for Minn. trip. Dressed chicken after supper. We breakfasted in U.S.D.A. lunch room. M.A. spent A.M. in Smithsonian Inst, P.M. in Senate, hearing LaFollette, etc. In eve to Chevy Chase, call on Ellickson's, dinner and eve at Lippert's. 17 of us. Va. ham. [illegible] nuts and cider.
