NOVEMBER 25 1936. Cleaned dish cupboard, elec. light fixtures, etc., blacked stove, baked bread. Finished Thanksgiving shopping in eve in Dyersville with Hans. 1937. Thanksgiving. Hans slipped in at 1 a.m. but woke me. First time home since Oct. 19. I baked 2 pumpkin pies, cooked beets. Chicken (canned) plenty of vegetables, cranberry relish, pie for dinner. We tried to find limestone, took a peek in excavation for new house south of Rollis'. Brandt's here in eve. 1938. Washed. Dressed a chicken which I served with noodles, peas and carrots, also a pumpkin and an apple pie. I baked at pot luck supper here for S.S. board. Rev. and Mrs. Barber, Peters family, Mr. Thomas, Mrs. Tasker, Mr and Mrs Briggs, Miss Clark, Mrs. F. [illegible] here. Hans in Middleton all day. I was named Mr. Tasker's [asst?]. 1939. Car didn't go to Middleton on Sat. for once as Sig is in with Lucille at Haley's. I turned Hilda's brown suit skirt for Velma. Hans home at 2. Made a pumpkin pie. 19
