NOVEMBER 28 Rita and her mother, Dorothy Pitz and mother, and Anna Louise here for co-operative 4H dinner. We scalloped chicken, mashed spuds, and made apple crisp. Told about Oven Products project. Finished ironing. We all went to church at Trousdale. Hadley's all out for roast goose dinner. [illegible] and Hans won 3 out of 4 games of 500 vs. Emma and me. Girls at E.L. and Hans and I at Kirkpatrick's a half hour. Slippery, slow driving. Hans took cultivator wheel pump jack to farm., [illegible] and to work at Darlington. I had acute gas pains nearly all day, but wrote most of first draft of New Zealand story, mended a few hose. Finished reading "Life with Father by Clarence Day. Ironed. Frank home. Temp. up, so had Dr. Ruff out after lunch. 101.8° Diaphragmatic pleurisy. Went to Guild with Mrs. Cornwell. Gave travel talk or part of it.
