DECEMBER 14 19 Tired, ached so got little done. Missed Irmscher Aux. Christmas party at Belle Broessel's. 19 Up earlier. Baked self-frosted cake, made applesauce. Hans and I went to Deforest at 1, where Dr. Carlton fitted my glasses. Shopped for books. Letter from Helen, may change my Christmas plans. Carrie [illegible] of Stoughton here. She and Hilda went to Bus. College dance. 19 Cleaned up house a bit, baked bread. Hilda home all day, sore throat, ear ache. Began 3d crocheted piece of chair set. Read most of "Tish Marches On" by Mary Roberts Rinehart. 19 Put big red crepe bows on d.n. curtains. Coldest yet, 17°. Trimmed outdoors Christmas tree. [14?] women here for Mothers' Club. Miss Grimes told us of WPA lunch project. Bingo and Christmas prizes. To missionary in eve at church till 9:30, when I got K from [Lathrop?]. 19
