Epworth girls beat Earlville in B.B. here in eve. H & S playing - Hans. DECEMBER 15 1936. Dubuque Co. 4H training school for leaders here from 10 - 4. Miss Swinney of Ames, Miss Gieseman of Dubuque, Mrs. Koster, Edna [Mangold?], Miss Albrecht, Mrs. Humke and 4 girls. Lesson on quick breads. 1937. Hilda stayed at YW after party. We took high students in and Hilda's lunch and books. Shopped a little - got Hilda's wrist watch for combination 18th birthday, Xmas and graduation gift. Took Frank in for guitar lesson at 7 - now in advance class. Joy. 1938. Baked pumpkin pies. Hans sent telegram from Chicago and I met him at noon at C.M.& St. P. station. Home for dinner then we went back, I for [illegible] where I reported $27 calendar money and got gift pkgs. for orphanage box, which I packed N.Z. story book from F.W. 1939. Went in with girls, shopped till noon then Sig and I came home at 1. I baked cake and bread. Lucille here for supper and overnite. Singer man here in eve. We played Anagrams. 19
