DECEMBER 22 19 While Sig ironed, baked bread, and got dinner, kids and I shopped in Dubuque - and took Q.E. fruit box to Maxine. Finished writing and sending cards. 19 Letter from Amanda they will not be at folks for Christmas and can't raise any money for our farm. Finished Amanda's peasant apron. At Waubesa school for program in eve. Frank gave monolog. I got nice, red bowl from Mary Voges. 11 cards - from Chris Skott's, Amanda, Wartons, Allan, Helene, Emma H, Ray Skott, Norma Burger. Snowed an inch. Made Hans nightshirt, baked gingerbread. To Madison in P.M. To Quisling clinic - found I had tumor! Signe helped trim Christmas tree at Trousdale. Began reading Louis Adamic "My America". Slept 9 hours! Made Velma a brown slip, her mother a warm nightie. Cut out and began nite shirt for Hans. More cards. Went to S.S. program at church and cantata. Frank was a shepherd. Kathryn and Velma in play. Hans home before supper from Minn. Fri.
