A Revolutionary Legend There are thousands of thrilling There are thousands of thrilling incidents connected with the war of the American, which has never been made public. There were many heroes engaged in this struggle, whose deeds have never been recorded in detail. Man, not a few from the humbler walks of life, devoted themselves to their Country's service, tore themselves from the embrace of their families subjected themselves to all the hardships of a long campaign, and at length laid down their lives to purchase an asylum for freedom in this western world, whose self-sacrifice was perhaps as worthy of being transmitted to posterity in granite monument, as that of the soldier of much higher rank. While in one of the Southern States a few weeks since, a Lady whose acquaintance I accidentally made, related to me a revolutionary story of this nature which had been handed down from those under whose observation the incidents occurred.
