Journal 1864 May 18th Left Burlington with a squad of men to join my Co. already at Keokuk having taken tea with Miss Steward. Wharf covered with our friends. How we prized that testimony of regard. It spoke to the heart more than actions could speak and words could never express such an interest. On arriving at the boat we found the 2nd Iowa Cav. on board.
