of nature's handy work - In the evening just at dusk we came in sight of Cape Girrardeau the scene of some stiring events connected with this rebellion Among others the first Iowa Cav routed a company of cav under the notorious Price just above the town there is a sand bar we laid over at the head of the bar all night and in the morning the reg was moved around the sand bar while the boat in attempting to cross stuck and now the boys are cooking our dinner in the woods
