July 2. 1864 Black Swamp. Last night the boys had an exciting time out. Co. Boys, Co G. last night on picket the gurillas tried to surround them but the boys were to wide awake they fired upon the rebs, and the rebs returned two shots - The cars also were fired into a mile or two below here - We have not learned the result - Our Reg was in line of battle once last night - and the companies were formed three times, and lay upon their arms until daylight
