there are no prairies here all the open land having been cleared out - Negroes come into our camp every day and are employed in the companies as cooks &c.- We understand that Col. Bereman and the Adj have been relieved at Memphis and will return to the Reg. tomorrow. The boys do not like him and hope he may not come - Col. More is liked much the best - because he puts on less style - I expected a letter from Burlington today but was much disappointed also expected one from Sister Mary but did not get it. Look for a good mail tomorrow.
