Memphis Mar. 27 186[3] My dear father and mother and sister i my pen in ha[nd] [?] in hospitol [?] so that i am wack tha sand us that wasent rit well up the river so to git god halt we have god things to eat and drink so i tink i git a long well and git god halt we got god rum to slep in thar is 3 of us in it we hav 3 god bunks in the rum avre man hav a bunk for him salf and god warm
