two o'Clock the cavalry came in here at night nicely whipped we worked nearly all night throwing up rifle pits I wrote a letter to Birche Oct 21st brisk Skirmishing in the afternoon several hundred prisoners brought in (ninth army corp arrived) Oct 22 in the night we marched out 3 m stayed till morning & came back in the rain. Oct 23 came into camp rained all day. Oct 24th all quiet (ditto) 25th (ditto ditto)
