MONDAY, JANUARY 25, 1864. Spent the morning entertaining callers. Adjt C- among the number. Wrote all afternoon. Telegram from Mrs. M - to join her in Des Moine. Reread "Complaint of friends." TUESDAY, 26 Left St Louis this afternoon. Very sorry to leave M -. Read "Gold Foil". Stayed all night at Springfield. Charmed with music over the way. WEDNESDAY, 27 Gen Bussy was a very kind traveling companion. Enjoyed the trip exceedingly, for entertaining thoughts filled my mind. At Keokuk.
