Sunday, April 24, 1864. One of the best days I have ever known. Rain all day, and time for self examination and prayer. Feel humbled in the dust & unworthy Monday 25 Have read Miss Prescotts "Amber Gods" & think it perfect trash. Began the Orange Ring and found it not worth reading. Written quite a number of letters today. Tuesday 26 More blessings from above. Will teach for two weeks in the N Hill School. O.C, M.W. spent the evening with me. Very pleasant. Hope Ortus will enlist.
