3d Quite a loud artillery noise over in S.C. during the night A large detail sent to town to work on intrenchments, Weather gets warmer during the night & mornings quite pleasant. A case of small pox in the Brigade, Vaccination going on, all of the Negroes going through the process, The boys have suffered from want of sufficient clothing and done it without murmuring, comparatively We have so much faith in old Gen Billy Sherman as to believe all will turn out for the best, We all think Hazen did a fine work in his assault of McAllister the other day
