Newbury Min Nov 26th 1860 A. A. Bean Esqr Dear Sir & Brother having recently received a few lines from you thought it not improper to reply briefly We are enjoying good health which we must nescessarily do in order to keep up with the custom of this Country, have had an excellent season for crops of all kinds, wheat will average in this county this season not less than thirty bushels per Acre, my wheat on account of late sowing will not yield more than about 25 bushels per Acre weighing 62 Lbs to the bushel - While you were having 5 1/2 7ths of Eight weeks of rain we had all told about one week - The first snow of the season fell on the 7th Nov to the depth of two inches and lasted one day snowed again on the 22nd & 23rd about 2 inches, on the morning of the 24th mercury 8 deegrees below zero, and 10 below on the morning of the 25th at present clear and cool with excellent wheeling
